Lake view, pure nature and comfortable accommodation. Visit us!
LakeViews rooms, hostel and camping are located in Plav, Montenegro.
LakeViews is located on a plane bordering the lake of Plav, 'Plavsko Jezero' Montenegro. At 900 meters of altitude. LakeViews camping spots are in the midst of an organic apple yard and lush green pastures.
Our camping area, rooms and dormitory are encroached in the grasslands bordering Plav lake. For what counts, we are a living farm. You can breakfast and dinner including cheese, yogurt, buttermilk, potatoes, corn, honey, apples, plums, tomatoes, strawberries rind meat, lamb and grapes, whatever the season allows. If we don't have it, we get it from subsistence farmers up in the hills, we try to pick and buy only local, biological products.
We border the old town of Plav of which the history goes back to Roman times. At a ten minutes walk from the camping location, our guests can explore the center of Plav and it's cafes, bars and shops. A supermarket with all daily care items is at hand.
From the camp-site a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain rigs and the lake are omni-present. The lake opens up to the river Lim exactly at the LakeViews camping ground limits. For the ones not familiar with the area, think alpine views and climate. Think hiking, biking, asphalt and gravel, windy roads, lush greens even at the end of summer, bees, sheep, pine woods and cool 'chocolate milk' nights.
What LakeViews, Plav, Montenegro stands for.
LakeViews believes in minimalism as in minimal impact on our environment, less if workable is better. The LakeView camping site at Plavski lake (Plavski Jezero) on the border of Plav Town in Montenegro is set up that way. The area abundant in divers terrain and rivers will take care of the few of you. Think a dozen of guests, personal attention, laid back ways, artisan cooking. Sound air and post-card visuals.
The countryside is laced with pastures for goats, sheep and some cows. Every once in a while some plowed fields are awaiting crops of potatoes and beans for subsistence provisions taking local people through the long, harsh snowy winter. beyond the hillside pastures the national park area and the forests await you, free camping is tolerated and we can but encourage it. Our own facilities serving as a base camp, allowing for drop-of and safe storage of unnecessary bulk. Some also tend to use us to top of the human batteries after multi-day hikes and climbs open to the elements.
We love to cater to motorcycle tourers (we offer bike and luggage stalling without unnecessary off-loading all luggage), off-road motorcycles (we will happily direct them to back-weel spitting gravel trails a plenty), sport climbers (and their gear, pointing them to the secured routes is our pleasure, our gym will put up a fingerboard if need be), alpine climbers, hikers and bikers, wild water kayaking adepts (river Lim forms one the borders of our location). To para-gliding adepts, your sport is highly neglected over here, you are particularly welcome, the substantial height differences en good updrafts during the day, alpine grasslands with no obstacles to land on, all make it an interesting area for your sport. In short, all nature-sport combinations creative people might come up with to surf nature, have fun and leave no trace of their presence will find this area 'uttermostly' digestible.
The ones daring and showing up in winter can ski all they want off-track and rent one of our rooms. Ski -lifts are a bit farther, 50 kilometers from LakeViews to ski-lifts this side of Rosaje. This is basic skiing, a bit further (100 kilometer over good cleared roads) Kolasin awaits you. Starting from the premises, winter hikes over un-threaded snow are the main attraction in wintertime.
Long time stays are encouraged, it takes a while to acclimatise and exhaust the possibilities of exploring the area. If you pop in during autumn, winter and part of spring a wood stove will heat your room or apartment.
As a thank you to a special friend we set up the camping as convenient to motor-homes, with chemical toilet discard, water and electricity providence. Wheels are welcome. It is after all a nomad way of living going back as far and more as Genghis Khan. The Moravian kings founded the kingdom of France and ran it out of four wood-wheeled, skin covered wagons, pulled by oxes, carrying wife, kettle and court. We are talking the 13-hundreds that is.
Population density is low in the region, less then 50 people per square kilometer. Population momentum is negative, this specific area is de-pressurizing, it's infringement on nature is shrinking. The authorities are trying to assert the principle of sustainability through practical measures. Stepping in to the fifty five square kilometer Procletije range, spanning four nations, it will be hard to get into socializing.
Then socializing can be important and Plav town has all the facilities for it, try Turkish coffee and 'burek' (meat and bread loaf freshly out of the oven) on the sunny summer terraces of so many coffee shops and restaurants.
Biodiversity is high, over an extensive area, blueberries, herb teas, medicinal herbs, all fresh out of the woods figure in abundance on local Friday and Saturday markets.
Tolerance is a tradition around Plav, we are sitting on the break line of Muslim, Orthodox and Catholic communities, and what we pride us upon is a given. For centuries these communities got along well. People of Albanian descending, Montenegrins, immigrants out of Bosnia and Cosovo, Serbs and nomad Romi 'jitsas' all have a stake in the cultural, religious and ethnic mosaic. You are welcomed to visit plav's wooden minaret Mosque, the Orthodox church of Andrejevica and convent of Bresejevica, a catholic church in Gusinje. For small groups we offer tours to some of these cultural anchors of the region, the earliest dating back to Roman times.
You will be attended, with a little luck, in a for you comprehensible language. LakeViews staff speak well enough German, English, French, Dutch Spanish and of course Montenegrin. English was chosen as the web-page language in the foresight that it would best overlap our European guests understandings.
Guests who decide to stay for a longer period of time can be attended by offering them a choice of bungalows with just that little bit more comfort and privacy.
As for wellness, a wood stove at night, our sauna and relaxing herb teas, biologically and locally grown foods and clean crisp mountain air go a long way in smoothing out last winters' stress cracks. Even during summer when the nights might be chilly to our guests taste, a small wood burning stove as is traditional in the region can be set up close to tent or camper to do one's own cooking and enjoy the evenings around the heard in the open air.
Camping season is May, June,July, August and first half of September. Enjoy.
